Northland Motorsports/Precision Concepts race report for Honey Lake Worcs May 10, 2009.

riders:
Jamie Lanza
Robby Bell
Taylor Robert

At the base of the mountains in the sierras, this is one of the most scenic stops in the series all year. Big elevation changes weren’t the only track news. Rocks, rocks, and more rocks! With the atv race the previous weekend, the off road sections were already rough, beat, and did I mention rocks? embedded rocks that don’t move would require careful navigation in several areas.

At the start, Jamie had a great jump and rounded the first corner in third. This only lasted 20 feet, as he was punted off the course by another rider. Taylor had a top 10 start, only to get caught up with other riders and go down. Robby had a terrible start, but at 3 turns in was the highest running team rider in 20th. The charge was on . All 3 riders began to move up quickly, until Robby got a front flat. This cost him over 3 minutes, and bumped him back to 25th. Taylor was on the move and by the mid way point was inside the top 10. Jamie was charging as well, but the 1st turn crash left him bruised and with a damaged bike.

With 30 minutes to go, Taylor moved into 5th, and was closing in on the battle for 3rd. Robby was climbing toward the top 10 with Jamie in tow.

As the riders headed out on the last lap, Taylor needed to make up 20 seconds to get to the podium. It was not to be as time ran out and he had to settle for 5th. Robby needed more time as well, and fell short of the top 10 by 30 seconds, Taking 11th just ahead of Jamie in 12th.

Once again we fell a little short of our expectations. The first turn is turning into a brawl. We need to get through it in tact. Our starts are improving, and all three riders put in lap times that would have them all in the top 5.

Races coming up are the MX nationals at Glen Helen and Sacramento where Taylor and Robby are racing. Also Jamie will be doing the ISDE qualifier at the end of May, looking for a spot on the junior team. The next Worcs race is June 14, 2009.
Thanks again for all your support. We continue to work hard to improve the team. We will sent out more pictures and posters as soon as we have them.

Muc-Off checks out Troy lee Designs Headquarters

On my way home from Glen Helen, David Pingree of Troy Lee Designs called me and told me to drop some more Muc-off off for the team. Having my camera handy I pinned it down to the TLD Headquarters based in Corona CA - so here are some cool shots of what they’ve got down there, enjoy.

first cool thing I saw was the Custom Fender Guitars  that are being made into Trophies for the Glen Helen National happening May 23.

Here is a shot of the paint shop, this is where all the custom paint jobs happen.
TLD does custom Painting for just about every sport, Nascar, hockey, to MX
In and around every corner is some cool new Project, TLD even does Custom Cars
Ping also showed me the Race shop which will soon be expanded, tons of parts are scattered
around the shop to make sure all the bikes are dialed.
Here Ping stands outside the back of the TLD Race shop, and shows us that some Crazy kids hung a Muc-off banner up while they were out testing.
Out back they park all the trucks.
Here is a photo of Jeff Ward’s Practice Bike that just came in the day before!
Ping said he was ok!
The TLD Team plans to do the first 5 nationals
Jeff Ward Does plan on doing the whole Super-moto series
Troy Lee himself has the sweetest collection of Bikes,Cars, and coolcollectables on site in the Lobby of TLD headquarters
who knows what this thing is but its straight up insane!
Maybe they will let us borrow it for a day or two.
if you are ever in the area, the TLD showroom is a definite must see
here I found more cars
I would like to thanks Troy Lee, David Pingree and staff for the tour and for more information

2009 Torture Test Niks Industries Yamaha Wr450f
Niks went outside its doors for a few parts, but mostly, this WR is a one-shop product, with more motor than any stock WR.

Niks made sure its WR was pumped up, protected and ready to drag anchor when needed.

There were no suspension mods on the parts list, but the Niks bike performed well on moto-style obstacles.

There was no mystery to the Niks WR performance: cams, carb, piston and pipe to bump power and Dunlops to handle it.

2009 Torture Test Niks Industries Yamaha Wr450f Rider Dave Donatoni
Taller riders felt right at home on the Niks WR, but compact Dave Donatoni fits right in, too.

2009 Torture Test Niks Industries Yamaha Wr450f
In the tight, technical and slippery parts of the test loop the Niks bike was a bit stiff, on the loud side and featured power a little more abrupt than conditions called for.

Jimmy Lewis roosted the Niks bike through the extreme enduro section of the Torture test.
